This page is where the frequent annoying questions that people ask every single stream will end up going. Thorn and Yoshi will probably be fed up answering these by now, although both are too polite to show it, so please stop asking these. Of course there will always be new fans just getting into SFA who want to know how the group formed etc, but it's better to have a nice organised page to keep all these questions in so they don't keep being asked. It especially helps on podcasts, where Thorn has to edit out the dumb questions or emphasise that they've been asked before.
How did you guys get into Sgt Frog/Keroro Gunsou?
Thorn: Watched the anime at some point before Yoshi decided to make the abridged.
Yoshi: Picked it up at a Barnes and Noble once, put it back down immediately. A few years later he saw the anime and found it hilarious.
How did Sgt. Frog Abridged come about?
One day in July 2009, on the chat for the Wha-Chow podcast, MugiwaraYoshi decided to ask people if they were interested in cresting a Sgt. Frog Abridged. During this time he got responses from ex-MidnightFrog DFatMan and current leader ThornBrain. However, Yoshi did not acquire a microphone until October 2009 (Thorn, is that right? I can't remember lol). During this period FatMan and Tohrn created the FATLPs channel for the purpose of Let's Playing various Zelda games, and temporary member GhostTC was also recruited during this period.
The Midnight Frogs group as a whole was finally created on January 1st, 2010, before which the infamous 'Tamama's Titties' was recorded, which Thorn has vowed never to release into the public domain. The rest of the history is covered in the TheMidnightFrogs page.
Where did the channel name come from?
TheMidnightFrogs is self-explanatory, the team were working on a Sgt. Frgo Abridged and their scripting sessions often ocurred at midnight. As for TheStrawHatNO!, Yoshi's Youtube handle at the time was MugiwaraNoYoshi, Japanese for Straw Hat Of Yoshi (or something like that) and so once FatMan was out of the picture, Thorn and Yoshi decided to take the translated version of Yoshi's youtube handle and use it for their LP channels to remove all ties to FATLPs, the previous Let's Play channel.
Who is your favourite character to voice?
Thorn's favourite characters to voice are, of course, Giroro and Dororo, hence the creation of the AskGiroDoro blog.
Yoshi only really voices Keroro (outside of the now non-canon appearance as Tamama and his various voices in his Deep Dash and Crazy Twilight blog), thus in the Sgt. Frog Abridged series Keroro is probably his favourite voice.
Will you guys do X Abridged?
Only if we feel like it. The main rule is that it has to be something the group can make funny. Currently Tamers Abridged, Origins Abridged and X/Y Abridged are all in the pipeline. Nothing else is planned as of now.
Will you guys LP X Game?
Only if it's a game that the members can access and are able to record, and will be games that Thorn, Yoshi or Travis don't hate by the end of the LP... Generally the answer will be no. Especially dumb stuff like I Wanna Be The Guy or whatever.
Can I be in the Abridged/LP?
As a general rule, don't ask the MidnightFrogs/StrawHatNO!, they'll come to you. On certain LP threads (ie. anything to do with Bomberman), you may be allowed to become part of the LP if you can post a video of yourself talking over a game and being informative and funny but these opportunities may be few and far between. Don't count on being part of SFA unless you're an established VA with a voice demo and parts in several good series. TheSmashBro is a special case, as he was already doing his own Sgt. Frog Abriged on the BokeGaeruProductions channel.
Thorn/Yoshi will you marry me?
Yoshi's taken, Thorn isn't, but that's more than a little bit forward isn't it? At least talk to the guy and get to know him a bit first...
